As someone with combination/oily skin and a religious consumer of the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder I was excited to hear about Rimmel's latest offering the Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation.
On first impressions, I like it but I don't love it.
It has a good medium coverage which you could definitely build to full coverage. It blended well and I agree with it's 'lightweight' claim, it didn't feel heavy or greasy on the skin. The finish is definitely matte which is great for those on the oilier side of the facial spectrum but I wouldn't recommend this for drier skin types.
There were however a couple of things which let it down. Firstly, the shade range isn't great. I couldn't get a particularly good colour match and so had to do a lot of blending to make this work. I also found that throughout the day it clung to drier areas on my face (above the eyebrows) and completely disappeared all together from other areas.
Unless they bring out a larger shade range I doubt I'll repurchase but if you have combination/oily skin and are on a budget I'd suggest giving it a go as it's relatively inexpensive and could work for you if you're lucky enough to match to a shade!
The Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation is available to buy in store now and retails for just £5.99.

You should give Lily Lolo's mineral powder foundation a try! I have oily/combination skin, and believe it or not, my skin is actually less oily now! I used to have to keep topping up my make up with Stay Matte powder, but now I don't have to even think about it!
ReplyDeleteIt gives a wonderful matte finish, but doesn't dry out on any part of the face. I've actually stopped using liquid/mousse foundations now!
Lovely post by the way.. I was tempted by this in the shop, a few months ago it'd have been straight in my make up collection!

Ooh thanks for the heads up I'll have to give that a try! X
DeleteThat's okay!! :) x
DeleteI am a lover of Rimmel products but a constant problem with many of their products is that they have a limited shade range. I love their Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation though that won't be great for oily skin! xx

I know, such a pain! The Wake Me Up foundation is absolutely gorgeous, I can usually get away with wearing it over the winter months when my skins less oily! X
DeleteAh i am so pleased to see this review! I have dry skin, so I'm glad I didn't buy this as it would have been a total nightmare! xx
