Worth The Hype - Bourjois Velvet Rouge

Left - Hot Pepper Right - Personne ne rouge!

As soon as these beauties started to circulate the beauty community I knew I had to get my greedy little hands on them come launch day. Nobody had a bad word to say about them and I was keen to see if they lived up to the hype...

After about 20 minutes of deliberation at the Bourjois counter I decided the two red colours 01 Personne ne rouge! & 03 Hot Pepper would be the colours making it to the till (at least until next time...)
Hot Pepper is an orange toned red which would look incredible with a tan & Personne ne rouge is a truer, more blue toned red which makes teeth look incredibly white.

As soon as I got home I slapped a layer of Hot Pepper onto my lips and was taken a back by the consistency. The best way I can describe it is that it feels like a primer on your lips - incredibly smooth and velvety, the complete opposite to other liquid lipsticks which I often find very drying.

The colour pay off was great with just one application but because of their non-drying consistency these can be built up and up until you reach your desired intensity with no amount of layering leading these to crumble or build up like you'd expect.

They don't half stick around too, just one application survived a full day of eating and drinking and still looked pretty decent come bedtime.

The Bourjois Velvet Rouge Lipsticks can be found here for £8.99 and are worth every single penny!

  3. I'm really tempted to try these but at the moment I have the L'Oreal Colour Infallible lipstick in a bright red colour which sticks around for a very long time. You know when you have to give your lips a good scrubbing with makeup wipes to remove it you've got a very good product!
